The Pointe Vouilloz is just one summit of the Perrons de Vallorcine that
reside just above the Lac d'Emosson, a massive dam. The first view of the
face is usually quite intimidating: massiv steep blank walls of gneiss.
Turns out the rock does have holds and is very fun to climb.
There are plenty of routes on this face, whereof Grevolle directe is probably
one of the most famous. Leaving the packs at the start of the route and
excellent protection on bolts guarantees fast and light climbing
with great views onto the Mont Blanc massif. If you have not been there
you have yet to experience what really good climbing in gneiss feels like.
